The first REAL tour company in Beautiful Bohol...

Bohol is emerging as a premier tourist spot in the Philippines because, well it's fantastic! There are plenty of people willing to take you to the Chocolate Hills or to see a Tarsier, but there is so so so so so much more to Bohol. But finding and getting to all the great places here can be difficult. That's why Barkada Tours evolved... All our trips are personalised, so just talk to us about what you want and we will make it happen. Whether it be swimming in waterfalls, visiting remote beaches, exploring Bohol's lush rainforest, sweating it out on a hike, famous sights, fine dining or spectacular views, or just plain chilling out, Barkada...

The Barkada Philosophy

See what others won’t - we can take you to places most locals don't even know! Small group size - personalised, low-impact service Respect for locals - we wouldn't go into your space unless you were happy with it... Environmental responsibility - we want to look after the place we love (and stay in business) Having fun - "find a job you love and you'll never work". Staff have (almost) as much fun as the customers Who is 'Barkada Tours'? Barkada Tours was started because we wanted to give tourists the opportunity to see the real Bohol, the one that we love ourselves. The standard tourist trail in Bohol doesn't do justice to the people, places...

Local Language Tips

There are a lot of different languages spoken in the Philippines although "Filipino" (or Tagalog) is spoken everywhere, as is English. Visaya is spoken in Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Siquijor, parts of Mindanao & Negros. If you really want to learn Visaya, its possible to buy various dictionaries and phrase books in the National Book Store. Alternatively, the much more satisfying way to learn any language is to hang out with locals and just try! Here are a few useful words and phrases in Visaya to get you started... The Basics... A...

Eating in Tagbilaran

Tagbilaran Garden Cafe (International Deaf Education Association) A unique organisation that is helping deaf youth and adults across Bohol to achieve equality in education and employment. While in Bohol, make sure to visit the Garden Cafe (Tagbilaran and Jagna) where staff are almost exclusively deaf. www.ideadeaf.org Cainguit A little hard to find, but some of the best seafood around.. Choose what you want from their display and then have it cooked for you. It sits right on the water on the edge of Tagbilaran Bay. To find it, go out Graham Ave. past Bohol Tropics (after the ferry pier) and look for a small sign on the left. A small set of stairs leads down to the restaurant. Golden Place Want cheap, good Filipino food? This is a slightly more sophisticated version of the Carendaria (local...

Eating in Panglao

Panglao  Bee Farm This place is becoming one of the highlights of many people's holiday in Bohol, and for good reason. We are very happy to take all our Barkada there because they provide an organic, charismatic, calming alternative. Nice mix of Filipino dishes with a contemporary flare. www.boholbeefarm.com Cafe Lawis Found in Poblacion Dauis, at the opposite end of Panglao Island to Alona Beach (next to the church). This is one of our favorite places to get away from the crowds and enjoy a coffee, light meal, or their sublime chocolate eh' (shot of hot chocolate with cream). We often drop by here as a last stop on our tours. ...
